  • Protect UGA’s reputation with a professional issues management and crisis communications program.
  • Refine a strategic messaging framework to position UGA as a global research leader that is committed to its land-grant mission.
  • Emphasize the university’s leadership position as the birthplace of public higher education in America, which sparked an innovative movement across the nation.
  • Build a comprehensive outreach program to raise perceptions among higher education peer and aspirant audiences.
  • Further develop and implement an editorial/content marketing approach that reflects strategic messaging and institutional priorities, showcases research results, and positions UGA as an emerging force for innovation and entrepreneurial activity for regional economic development.
  • Continue to develop a program to create and distribute significant, relevant and timely content, with a particular emphasis on research, to generate greater state, national and international news coverage.
  • Build upon program to increase expert commentary in the public sphere, demonstrating UGA’s leadership in research, teaching and service.
  • Continue to be responsive to audiences’ changing media/information preferences by creating a seamless digital and social media experience to maximize brand engagement; transition from print where appropriate.
  • Elevate the institution’s top research initiatives/scholars and innovation/commercialization successes through integrated campaigns.
  • Share the economic impact of UGA research and innovation/commercialization to showcase the value of the institution to the state of Georgia.
  • Continue to implement contemporary design solutions that include strong visuals and a human-centric approach to visual storytelling to elevate audience engagement.
  • Continuously increase the value of the UGA brand through a robust brand platform, comprehensive visual identity system, and licensing and trademark management program.
  • Continue to build and implement a metrics and analysis program to constantly improve communications activity and impact.
  • Optimize brand ambassadors to share our institutional messages.
  • Build an infrastructure for success for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Nurture a culture of on-going learning and implement best practices as the discipline of marketing and communications continues to rapidly evolve. 
  • Support our community-based NPR radio program.
  • Constantly improve visitor experience to the university to enhance perceptions of our broad offerings and to recruit high achieving prospective students.
