The Elevate Georgia Strategic Communications Symposium was specifically designed as a professional development opportunity for anyone involved in marketing and communications at UGA, along with communications colleagues from USG institutions.
University of Georgia campus communicators needed a low-cost, intensive symposium to learn essential university-specific strategies, training and skills that can be easily leveraged to raise their college, school or program to new heights. The Division of Marketing & Communications highly values professional development and wanted to provide a way for communicators to network and learn from their peers.
Elevate consisted of two intensive days of more than 25 sessions, workshops, keynotes and panels focused on university-specific themes, industry topics and pressing issues. Sessions were led by industry thought leaders, experts from respected firms and our resident specialists from across campus.
More than 200 people participated in the inaugural Elevate Georgia symposium in 2017. UGA units accounted for 70% of the conference participants; 12% were from other University System of Georgia schools. The first conference included 12 breakout sessions and eight workshops. More than eight out of 10 participants were satisfied or highly satisfied with their experience and plan to attend future symposiums. Elevate was repeated in 2018 and will return in 2020 on a two-year basis.
