Columns communicates news of institutional importance to faculty, staff and others interested in the mission of the University of Georgia.

This goal is achieved by helping readers understand the priorities of the university. Columns builds a sense of community among its readers by telling stories that create pride about the work being done to enhance the University of Georgia’s institutional brand and reputation in the state, nation and world.

Columns is published approximately 40 times during the university’s fiscal year, which begins July 1 and ends June 30. Total readership averages 11,000 people per issue.

Columns is published digitally, and a few special, printed editions are produced each academic year. Full-time UGA employees who would like to change their delivery preference (print only, electronic only, or print and electronic) can do so on the Columns website.

Except as noted on the publication scheduleColumns is published on Monday of each week during the academic year and twice in June and July. Exceptions: Holidays and class breaks.

Columns articles and information must be written in accordance with Associated Press and UGA editorial style guides.

News items that have been approved for publication should be submitted to columns@uga.edu at least three weeks in advance of the publication date. Story ideas should be sent to stories@uga.edu.
